CURRENT GOVERNMENT REGIME IN FRANCE
The Regime that has been in France since 1958 is the Fifth Republic. Like it's name, it is a republic government that functions under a constitution. It was introduced on October 5, 1958. It replaced the Fourth Republic which had a weak parliamentary government. The Fifth Republic has transformed and is now a stronger parliamentary government and is a more centralized democracy. The force behind creating the Fifth Republic was the Algerian Crisis. There was a large population of French people in Algeria. On September 28, 1958 people voted and agreed as a country that the best decision would be to have a new constitution. That is now what we all know as the Fifth Republic. The Fifth Republic was created by Charles de Gaulle and is currently ran by Francois Hollande. Hollande was elected on May 15, 2012. He is the head of state and supreme commander-in-chief of the French Armed Forces. Hollande has a parliament and chooses his cabinet.
Although France is a republic, they have Socialist programs. The Socialist programs are the unemployment benefits the government gives to the unemployed, and the job seeking opportunities the government gives to the unemployed who are looking for a job. Depending on how many children some people have and how much income they earn, they can obtain bigger benefits.

This is a graph of the GDP rate in France.
The entire graph is in the Fifth Regime, but besides 2009, the GDP in France has stayed pretty steady. Right now, France is a pretty good place to live considering how well their economy is.
