GENERAL POLITICAL HISTORY OF FRANCE
France a total of five republics up until now. The first three republics failed horribly. The Fourth Republic was a very big step for France. It was a republican government from 1946-1958. It was founded during the presidency of Charles de Gaulle. The Fourth Republic Constitution was adopted into the French government on October 13, 1946. Since the government was adopted after World War II, it's purpose was to expand the industry and enhance the economic growth in France.
The Fourth Republic ended up being not beneficial at all. Once de Gaulle realized this, he wanted to regain power and become a complete leader. He then founded the Fifth Republic, or the current republic. He soon became president for the next 10 years. After de Gaulle ruled, Nicolas Sarkozy was the next biggest ruler from 2007-2012, and now the current ruler of the Fifth Republic, and France, is Francois Hollande. The Fifth Republic is the most beneficial of all republics. It has an executive, legislative, and judicial branch of government. Although France is a republic government, it has some socialist views. Some examples of these views are unemployment benefits and job seeking opportunities to the poor. It's safe to say that Charles de Gaulle changed France with his idea of the Fifth Republic.
