Yes or no to gay marriage?
Same-sex marriage has been the talk in France these past few months.
When the bill Francois Holland sent to the French Ministries attempting to legalize same-sex marriage was passed, some people were outraged, others ecstatic.
On November 4, 2012 the French Ministries passed Francois Hollande's bill of same-sex marriage in the country of France. Hollande has been waiting to do this for a while now. As he stated in his presidential campaign, he pledged to extend the right of gay marriage if he were elected. This was a bold move for Hollande at the time because he was not only running against the current president Nicolas Sarkozy, but he was also going to lose a lot of votes. However, with the loss of some votes, he was assured to gain votes. A recent survey showed that 65% of people want this law to be passed.
When the bill was passed by the French Ministries, anti-gay organizations rioted outside of the Elysee Palace in rage. Groups such as Alliance VITA were there protesting this law that hasn't even gone to the National Assembly yet. Hollande expected all of this to happen because of how heavily catholic France's population is.
Though there are groups such as the Alliance VITA who are protesting, there are groups who are in agreement with Hollande's idea. For example, Inter-LGBT. Inter-LGBT stands Inter-Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender. They are a group of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgenders who are diligently following the bill's status and preparing for what is going to happen if the bill is passed in February.

Yes, the French Ministries did pass the bill on November 4 last month, but that still does not make it legal. A law cannot be passed in France unless it goes through the National Assembly and Senate. It is supposed to be sent over to them in January and is going to be voted on in February.
Nine states in the United States have passed the law of gay marriage. Just recently, two passed the law. Hollande believes that it is time for France to pass the law.
Depending on if the bill is passed or now, France can potentially change forever. We will all just have to wait and see!
